 Two new members join Doughboys.
« Thread Started on Oct 27, 2009, 12:00pm »

We are delighted to inform members that we have recently been joined by the following persons who are keen to assist the Doughboys development.

Al Varilone is a Solicitor by profession and is a partner in the firm of Sherwood Dunham, 3, Sheep Street, Wellingborough. He is a keen football fan and having heard the club were sponsored by a professional friend of his he made it known, he too, was interested in supporting the club in its development.

We are hopeful that Mr Varilone will be extremely useful in introducing the calibre of personnel who can take the club forward. He has already demonstrated, in his short time with us, that he has a wide circle of business and experienced sporting associates who share his enthusiasm.

Mr Varilone has pursuaded Mr Charles McAdam a National and International businessman to come on board and advise on the commercial side of the club.

Mr McAdam has considerable experience with fundraising in sports clubs having fulfilled that role in the Surrey area. He also has a vast knowledge of restructuring organisations to get the best out of available personnel. A businessman in his own right Mr McAdam has a wide range of associates, both in the UK and abroad, to whom he will be promoting the Doughboys cause.

He has already identified several areas where the club can improve its marketing strategy and obtain maximum benefit from its hardworking volunteer force.

The Executive committee, members and supporters welcome both Mr Varilone and Mr McAdam into the club and look forward to working closely with them to take the club forward.

Laurie.

What positions do they play and do they score goals? Forgive my sarcasm Laurie but it is good players we need if we are to succeed.

John,

I and my fellow executive members have nothing to do with selecting which players come to or leave the club. All those decisions are down to the Football Management Team.

I am trying to bring in people who have connections and who are likely to recommend business personnel to our club. They are the calibre of person who can benefit the development of our team by increasing the expense budget and thereby attracting a more experienced level of player to the Doughboys.

The two persons who have recently been invited to join the club will organise events to raise money. One of them, I know for cerrtain, will be at the Quiz Night tonight to sample the level of social interest in the club.

Laurie.

I've resisted temptation to put you right on a few things Mr Jones in the past weeks but now think its time you were told one or two home truths.

Long before you came onto the scene I was asked to release a monthly Newsletter to keep our members informed of whats going on in the club. It worked very successfully for the first two years but then I found I had not the time to devite to it, so it was shelved.

By virtue of numerous requests from members it was decided that I should be given a Press Officer's role to liaise with local press, radio and community groups and to circulate through our Forum matters of interest. That is the reason when someone joins our club I keep our members and supporters informed about it, because that's my role. I am not and never have sought to build an ego.

The last thing I ever expected was for you to be critical and sometimes sarcastic towards me and my club because of my passion for that club and its future. By virtue of the manner in which you have conducted yourself over the past few months and the innuendo and implication you have levelled at me, in addition to the goading of individuals who you sought to support your views, I have completely changed my mind of you as an individual.

I do however, have a snippet of information and some sound advice for you. The latest two persons to join our club are not executive members so their presence has no threat to those already serving.

The advice is to concentrate on your own club and stop trying to undermine what others are doing at their clubs. You'll find it much more rewarding to try and work in harmony with others. I retired from a former profession that had its critics in abundance. I never envisaged that whilst giving up my considerable time, energy and finance to promote football in Wellingborough, individuals whom I originally saw as friends could resort to such childish and unsolicitous behaviour.

I had six happy years at Raunds and had a great deal of affection for the club. That's where your energies ought to be centred on restoring them to their former status not resorting to attempting to encourage others to denigrate what we are trying to achieve.

You may not accept it but you have made a number of people see you in a totally different light with your unacceptable diratribe.

Laurie.

To all the younger people out there who go on this forum. As I previuosly have said I watch many sports to enjoy my advancing years(60+) but I never thought I'd see the day long words defined made it onto a forum.
Devite,Diratribe, and Denegrate much as I know what they mean are they needed on a club football.
They are however so much better than "ennit, wateva and latters that's creeping into our language.
Suggest that people 'Combobulate' and are 'Sagacious' before they reply

Sorry Poach but you would be better off not having a go at WTFC but getting your own house in order.

I think that ,as secretary of RTFC, you really should be channelling your efforts in a different direction as,i may be wrong here, but the last time i looked RTFC appeared to be at the bottom of the UCL Prem.

Love and kisses x x x x x
