In what wasn't the best or nicest conditions Royston won 4-0 so reversing their loss last season. The goals were scored by Ryan Lockett after 27mins and 40mins and further goals by Ricky Young 43mins and Carl Edwards in the 2nd half after 60mins. Thanks to both sets of supporters who cheered on their teams despite the weather. Good luck to Royston in the next round their football merited their victory. Bye for now Me

Sadly we exited the FA Vase yesterday, disappointing we couldn,t have gone any further but i think we got beat by a very good side who took their chances when they had them. I await a match summary from laurie or whoever with regards the match itself.
I would say well done to Royston for their win and would like to thank their very friendly fans who turned up in great numbers to support their team.
Would also like to thank our supporters who even though we were losing gave great support for the team, and tried to help the lads pick themselves up after conceding the goals. Well done to you all.
Lastly thanks to Jeremy Lucas our super groundsman for getting the pitch playable. It did seem 50-50 at one stage but thankfully the game went ahead. Jeremy had done a fantastic job on the pitch this season, and has spent numerous hours working hard on the pitch getting it better for the players to play on.
Excellent effort Jez, well done mate.
Now we are out of all the cups, we now can focus on our league position. It,s vey important after these two defeats we regain some confidence back and we have to dig deep for each other and keep working very hard to move up this table.
The lads will do that, they are hurting and i,m very confident these lads will turn the fortunes around and start to get the results we need.
Great turnout from our super supporters in horrible conditions. Also very proud of your effort supporting the team.
We will get there everyone, keep believing, we will definately get there.
Rob Gould, Nick Verity and Darren Gould are legends in my eyes, all very dedicated in everything they do, and without a question of a doubt will be improving the players and we will be getting the best out of our boys.
Take care all.

I couldn't agree more with your sentiments Haydn on a number of issues. Firstly, if this had been last season the game would never had been played. Jeremy has worked so hard on providing a pitch which drains so effectively. When I first saw it at about 1.0pm there were large puddles everywhere and it was literally pouring down with rain. Not long after it had stopped the standing water quickly subsided and the pitch was again playable, although obviously extremely heavy. This clearly illustrates the magnificent job Jeremy is doing for the club. He has such a high degree of dedication and pride in what he does for the Doughboys and for that everyone attached to the club should be justly grateful.
Secondly, although we were on the end of a lopsided scoreline there was not such a great difference between the two sides in ability and technical knowhow. The main difference was that Royston only required a half chance to score whereas we had great difficulty of even looking dangerous in their box on numerous occasions. Despite the heavy defeat the squad remained upbeat and we now have to concentrate fully on our league position.
Rob and Nick correctly forecast that it would be a struggle to immediately set the world on fire owing to the fact we have virtually had to start from scratch. In addition, numerous injuries have robbed us week after week of important members of the squad and several of those who have had to play through the pain barrier are carrying injuries which, under normal circumstances, would have warranted at least a week, if not two weeks rest. Despite these setbacks the morale remains high and the players are confident that sooner or later we shall start to record results that lady luck has so far deprived us of.
As was illustrated on Saturday our level of football was excellent and in the early stages of the game we looked the most likely team to open the scoring. However, the visitors looked dangerous in attacks and two speedy wingers, supported by a livewire centre forward, gave th home defence several hairy moments when a score looked imminent.
It was from one such speedy attack down the left that Royston's impressive number 11 swung over a near perfect centre that required just the gentliest of touches to guide it into the Doughboys net for the opening goal.
All the football that was being played by the Doughboys was being played in our half of the pitch and our defence looked comfortable whilst in possession of the ball. However, as the quick opposition midfield slowly started to gain control the attacks became more progressive and it was not long before a second and subsequently a third goal virtually put the game out of the reach of the Doughboys by the interval.
Upon the resumption Royston began where they left off and were it not for several outstanding saves by the ever competent Shaun Markie the game wouyld have been well and truly over by the hour mark. A tactical move by Rob and Nick proved in changing the pattern to 3-4-3 gave the game an added interest as the Doughboys started to apply more pressure on the Royston defence. They may have taken their foot off the pedal slightly but then realised that the Doughboys did not give in as easily as a team, three down, might be expected to do.
A fourth goal to the visitors did not completely stifle the effort of the home team and on three occasions we should have reduced the arrears to make the score look more respectable.
A final score of 0-4 to the visitors probably flattered them to a degree because we did have several good chances. That is not to say that they were a good team and thoroughly deserved their revenge for the defeat we bestowed upon them in the FA Vase last season.
However, on that occasion we had an excellent centre forward in Thommo who caused Royston so much trouble they did not enjoy the freedom they were granted in midfield, which was where their dominance in this game lay.
I would again agree with Haydn that the supporters were again excellent on a terrible day, weatherwise and the visiting fans were extremely friendly and affable and in not the least bit arrogant in their hour of glory.
Good luck to Royston in the future rounds and it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that they could go all the way to Wembley. I have seen previous finals and they are not too far behind the level of clubs that have made it in the past.
Laurie.

There's some interesting draws in the next round of the FA Vase and it's poetic justice that we would have again been at home had we been successful on Saturday against Royston.
Leiston against Daventry Town springs out as a fixture that might provide a team that has the potential to go all the way. Just as a little game that keeps our supporters interest in the FA Vase who do you think might grace the turf at Wembley in the final.
I'm going for Barwell from the Midland Alliance League who are having a great season. Both Leiston and Daventry Town are top of their respective leagues.
Laurie.
