left the rockingham triangle with mixed feelings, was a game we really ought to have won but in the end we were grateful for a point. started brightly on their superb playing surface and for the first half hour their was only one team in it as we dominated for long periods with elliott whitehouse and nick manley having a field day in midfield, mark pryor was looking lively up front and almost opened the scoring after taking ball as whitehouse was about to strike and volleying inches over the bar. we then lost alex beaumont who came off worse in a 50/50 fair challenge . we did however take the lead moments later when tom randall capitalised on the corby town full backs mistake and unselfishley pulled the ball back to pryor who cooly finished from 12 yards out. corby then came into the game more with first team manager graham drury whose son was playing encouraging his team from the stand. we went in at half time looking comfortable and although corby had finished the half stronger they never really threatened our goal. maybe we were too relaxed because to be honest we never really came out the dressing room for the second half, the young steelmen however came flying out the blocks on the restart and were playing the better football and feeding off our sloppy passing and wrong decision making , to be honest our two centre halfs richard bird and adam speight were keeping us in the game . eventually we conceded when a one on one attack saw the lad strike a superb goal from 20 yards . this woke us up and we started to come into the game more but seemed to be lacking in the final third althogh ashley smith should of done better from 8 yards out. the last ten mins were litterally end to end with tom perkins outstanding in goal, a couple off crosses into the corby box just needed a final touch to score, but all in all a draw was probably a fair result but we must learn to be a little more ruthless with teams and i have no doubt that will come as the season progresses

What can i say( there's a lot but not too good to mention on here) Disjointed, unorganised, decision making, lack of effort. Well enough of us management!!! I don't place the blame on the players out on the pitch entirely although we were under performing i still beleive that as the management team we should shoulder the blame. Managers sometimes get it wrong as well, put this down to experience and we have to make sure it doesn't happen again.

My view on last nights game. Firstly i have to agree with parts of the report above. It was probably the worst game i have seen regards commitment and effort from the boys tonight, but after listening to the loud discussion on the pitch after the game i felt that we can not blame last nights performance on the boys fully and we have to start at the top and thats with the management. As a parent and keen follower of the youth i have to question the decisions that were made by the manager.Top scorer Ash Smith(sitting on the bench) A badly organised midfield which left me concerned after Nick and Tom played so well last week why didnt we have the same two? instead of Tom up front, yet played deep causing a problem with space in the middle. This only my opinion but as well as players i think the management need to long and hard if they have any intentions of winning the league this season. Just add Richard, Tom Perkins and Adam speight all played well under constant pressure.

i have not been able to see the lads play for a few games and the the change is not good i know the buck stops with the manager and his team of selectors and everyone has there own view on the game in the early games the back four and goal keeper were as good as any team in the league and they were starting to jell realy well midfield we had 6 or 7 players who could be mixed and matched as the game went on the only sign we needed improvement was scoring goals and that is what we are not doing. we were not giving goals away but we did on monday we have to learn we have to score more than 1 goal a game we seem to score 1 goal and then some players start to showboat and not work and once you take your foot of the pedal it is very hard to put it back down again so lets get back to basic again and not fix something that does not need fixing and get the the team firing on all guns and good luck anton and team everone is backing you

I was also at this game as always. People need to understand that an under 18’s side is predominately there to bring young lads on in their game, and hopefully bring some through to the reserves, and eventually become part of a first team squad. It is not simply putting a team together to go out and beat all and sundry (although that would be nice).
With regards to scoring goals, the lads have played 9 games and scored 14 goals. That does not equate to 1 a game if my maths still work. Smudger has played in 7 of those games and scored 5 goals. Mark Pryor has played in 6 games and scored 4, so between them 9 goals out of the 14 scored is very impressive in my book.
On another note, the defence have conceded 9 goals in 9 games, Manchester Utd 11 in 11, enough said.
People should really look at facts before posting negative things on this board. I know for a fact that the lads read this board, what do people think happens to the players confidence when they read things that are negative? Lets have more positive messages and encourage the lads. Who knows, we might beat all and sundry then.
